Create a Position for your election
Creating positions in Choice Voting online voting
Dependant on the type of election you are running, you may need a "position" in your election, a position is where we hold your candidates that are looking to be elected for that particular position.
To create your first position, open the relevant election and navigate to > positions.

New Position Details – Edit screen
At this stage you can begin to create the details for your position.
Name | The name of your position, for example “Board Members” |
Result / Count Method | The count method you would like to use for this position |
Number of seats to Fill (How many will be elected in this position?) | How many candidates will be elected for this position? |
Position is Required? | Make this position a required vote, if making positions required you should re order the required positions at the top ordering. |
Candidates in this position have images? | Choose to show or hide headshot images for candidates within this position, ideal for a question style position. |
Candidates shown randomly or in specific order for this position? | Determine if your positions candidates are displayed to voters in a per determined order, or randomly. |
Optional settings
It is possible to restrict the number of candidates a voter may submit votes for in your position, for example, you may choose that a voter must select a minimum of 2 candidates but a maximum of 4.
Minimum number of candidates that may be selected for this position | What is the minimum number of choices you wish your voters to select in this position? |
Maximum number of candidates that may be selected for this position | What is the maximum number of choices you wish your voters to select in this position? |
You may display an optional message informing a voter about the selection restrictions for this position | You may write a brief message here to be displayed if your voter tries to submit a vote that does not conform to your minimum and maximum settings. |
